Born c. 1850. Studied under Iliya Blaskov and Dobri Voynikov. Home to his house-museum, bust monument, and stadium.

Revolutionary Activity

November 11, 1875. Co-founded the Giurgiu Revolutionary Committee. Elected chief apostle of the IV District.

April 1876. Center of the IV Revolutionary District. Site of the Oborishte Assembly and formation of the rebel band.

April Uprising

April 23–26, 1876. Volov deployed the cherry cannon and led military operations. The town was burned by Ottoman forces.

Death

May 26, 1876. Volov perished in the Yantra River near the Belenska Bridge. A monument stands there today.

Volov's remains rest in the Pantheon of the National Revival Heroes – one of Bulgaria's most sacred places of memory.
